What a day, think the 1st photo sums things up nicely. After years of thirds and seconds it was some buzz to finally get the win at the Ulster Champs today. Great race long battle with @montaaaayy and @thomascreighton came down to a last lap kicking session. Just had enough to hold them off.
Big shout to the @mcconveycycles crew for all the support today, and all the guys out around the course for giving me a cheer.
By @tobyphotoswatson, thanks again.

Another hard race for me. Took the lead early and should have put the race to bed but struggled in the closing stages and allowed the boys to come by me. Now time to work for the nationals

An early start on a fresh and calm morning took us to Windmill Park, Dungannon for the Ulster CX Champs. A long and technical course made all the more difficult with a couple of wet days leading up to the event, with the only few ‘clean’ sections on short tarmac paths & through the trees in places. The U16 boys took off just behind the Junior boys. On Frank Finley’s inaugural ride for McConvey’s Race Team he was joined by Scott Roberts on the grid, both team riders sporting XC bikes! New to CX, Frank misjudged the starting pace and after a few clicks of the gears he rolled out at the back of the pack but his mtb skills on increasingly greasy course meant he soon caught up with Scott again, passing a few ‘road’ rivals entoute. Scotty & Frank battled a tight race in 4th & 5th positions from the second lap keeping a couple if keen challengers behind until, caught in the traffic, Frank took a risky line on the off-camber grass section and lost time plus a place on the last lap. Pushing hard Frank regained his 5th position to roll in behind Scotty in 4th place for McConveys Race Team. A very different day, as the heavens opened for the Elite race but we enjoyed supporting the good and the great battling for podium positions to complete a very successful Ulster CX Championship for McConveys Race Team. A fantastic support team made for a great event with the encouragement of experienced riders, all in all a super day on & off the saddle - lessons learnt today & looking forward to a great 2019 season with the support of s great bunch of riders & team staff.

Good race on Sunday at the Connaught cyclocross champs where I won my own u14 race and got a top 10 in the adult race.
