What is the Cycle to Work Scheme?
Cycle to Work scheme is a UK Government tax exemption initiative introduced in the Finance Act 1999 to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution. It allows employers to loan cycles and cyclists' safety equipment to employees as a tax-free benefit.

Am I eligible
- To benefit from the Cycle to Work scheme's tax and national insurance savings, you must:
- Be an employee, not self-employed.
- Receive your salary by PAYE.
- Earn more than the national minimum wage after the salary sacrifice.
Please note:The scheme is not available to the self-employed or employees on the National Minimum Wage.

Cycle to work covers the following bikes and safety equipment:
- Bikes (including tricycles & E-bikes)
- Cycle helmets (conform to EU standard EN 1078)
- Bells & bulb horns
- Lights, including dynamo packs
- Mirrors & mudguards
- Cycle clips & dress guards
- Panniers, luggage carriers and straps
- Child safety seats
- Locks & chains
- Pumps, puncture repair kits, cycle tool kits & tyre sealant
- Reflective clothing
- White front reflectors & spoke reflectors
- As of 2018 it is now permitted to get bicycle parts with and even without including a bike
- As of 9th June 2019 the goverment has removed the £1000 for most people
